we are thrilled to welcome you to Zanzibar and want to ensure you have a seamless and enjoyable experience during your stay. Here are some important details to assist you:
1. Visa Requirements: Check if your nationality requires a visa. Visas are available upon arrival for many visitors.
2. Tourist Tax: Zanzibar imposes a tourist tax of $5 per person per day. Please be prepared to settle this at check-out.
3. Starting from October 1, 2024, mandatory travel insurance has been introduced in Zanzibar. The insurance can be obtained through the official website: https://visitzanzibar.go.tz
4. Currency: The official currency is Tanzanian Shilling (TZS), but US Dollars are widely accepted. At Zanzi Resort the common currency is the US Dollar (bills printed after 2009 only) but we also accept euros and shillings applying the exchange rate in effect at the time.
IMPORTANT! We suggest our guests to get national cash in advance since the bank offices are placed in Stone Town, 30 minutes away from the resort. In Zanzibar, it is important to have national currency. Some shops don't accept credit cards.
5. Accepted credit cards: Visa and Mastercard. All transactions made via credit card will be subject to a 3% increase due to bank commission. All transactions made as deposits and/or final payment before your arrival in Zanzibar won't be subject to this bank commission.
6. Weather: Zanzibar has a tropical climate. Pack light clothing, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Don't forget your swimwear!
7. Local Customs: Respect local customs and traditions. Dress modestly outside of beach areas
8. Transportation: Arrange airport transfers in advance. Taxis and dala-dalas (local minibusses) are common for local travel. You can also order a transfer directly at our resort.
9. Language: Swahili and English are widely spoken. Basic Swahili phrases are appreciated.
10. Meal serving hours at Zanzi Resort:
Breakfast: 7:30 AM - 12:00 PM, Lunch: 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Dinner: 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM
11. Activities: explore Stone Town, visit spice farms, and indulge in water activities. Our staff can assist with tour bookings.
12. You are requested to pay the total amount for your stay at arrival, while all extras will be settled at check-out. All purchases made in other structures, since they are managed externally, can't be included in the bill for villa.
